USS COD 8/5/11

My computer crashed this summer, so I was unable to post what few rides I took. I just replaced it , so I will try to post a few pics from these weekend rides. In early August I rode north to meet my friend Steve, we rode to Cleveland Ohio to see The USS COD, a WW2 Gato class submarine. Down the street from the Cod we found a steamship that ran the great lakes from 1925 to 1980, the SS William G. Mather,,,here are a few pictures from that weekend trip.

5/30/11 Ice cream festival

Wanting to go somewhere different, I headed to Utica Ohio this morning to the Velvet ice cream festival. Today they had the Goldwing ride in (but all bikes were welcome) I fired the VTX up at 8 am and headed out,,,taking my time my first stop was Rushcreek lake ,where a few fishermen had a good start on the day., Then it was off to Buckeye lake where I rode around for awhile before heading to the festival.

The festival was a good time, they even had a horse drawn carriage ,,but who am I kidding,,I went for the bikes,,and ICE CREAM!!!!

The ride home was just as nice, going down rt. 13 I spotted the Dawes Arboretum,,ok for a change of pace I pull in and take the auto tour. It was much better than I expected,,with an observation tower (there goes my fear of heights again) and the cypress swamp,,it was a nice change of pace.

Almost home, on rt. 22 I swing out to pass slower traffic,,thats when I see the Highway patrolman,,,66 mph in a 55,,yup,,120 dollar ticket ,,,just my luck,,91 degrees out and he had no sense of humor...
